The Virginia Junior Academy of Science provides students in grades 7–12 the opportunity to conduct original scientific research, develop scientific communication skills, and share their discoveries with a statewide community of students, educators, and mentors.

Who Can Participate?
Any student who resides in Virginia and is in grades 7–12 may participate in VJAS. Students who live outside of the state of Virginia may not participate in VJAS.
2027 VJAS Symposium
The annual VJAS Research Symposium is where students present their original research, receive feedback from scientists and educators, and compete for awards and scholarships. It is the culmination of months of scientific investigation and an opportunity to connect with fellow young researchers from across Virginia.
