The mission of VJAS is to:
Develop Scientific Skills – Encourage the practices used by scientists, engineers, and mathematicians through mentorship provided by the Virginia Academy of Science.
Cultivate Student Leadership – Recognize and develop student leaders who address important scientific challenges and serve on the VJAS Board.
Publish Student Research – Support publication of student work in the Proceedings and VOICE student publication.
Promote STEM Careers – Encourage careers in science, mathematics, and related fields through scholarships, networking, and engagement with scientists.
Teach the Research Process – Help students design projects, conduct research, draw evidence-based conclusions, and communicate their findings effectively.
Strengthen the VJAS–VAS Partnership – Foster collaboration and fellowship between the Virginia Junior Academy of Science and the Virginia Academy of Science.
