2025 VJAS Symposium Information
Papers accepted for presentation at the 2025 VJAS Symposium are now posted on the 2025 Symposium page. Congratulations to all whose research was accepted for presentation!
A few important notes and deadlines:
1) From now until the end of the Symposium in May, the VJAS Committee cannot answer any questions regarding why papers were not accepted for presentation.
2) If you cannot present at the symposium, please Notify Robin Curtis, Associate Director, VJAS (associate.directorvjas@gmail.com), as soon as possible but no later than April 11.
3) Due to the logistics of hosting a hybrid event, the VJAS Committee cannot honor any requests to change from in-person to virtual presentations (or vice versa).
4) If you are presenting in person, the registration link for in-person attendance at Ferrum College will be posted on the 2025 Symposium page when Ferrum College opens its event registration. You MUST complete the registration process with Ferrum College if attending in person. This is separate from the VJAS application fee and paper submission. An email message will be sent out via the Associate Director when the Ferrum College registration link is live.

About VJAS
VJAS Vision for Impact
Since its inception in 1941, The Virginia Junior Academy of Science (VJAS) has enjoyed steadfast sponsorship from the Virginia Academy of Science (VAS). In an exciting development starting in 2023, we are thrilled to introduce the Juried Science Symposium Conference—a pivotal addition to our offerings.
Here's what this means for all students: membership in VJAS is now entirely free. As members, students have the option to participate in the Juried Symposium, a cornerstone of the Conference. They can submit their papers for consideration, with the potential to become presenters. Even if their submissions are not selected, they are welcome to attend the event as attendees, gaining insights from presentations and speakers, all contributing to their educational growth.
VJAS distinguishes itself by offering students a unique opportunity to receive indirect and direct feedback. The event spans three significant days: the first day kicks off with a General Session Speaker, followed by the second day where students present their work, and all students can listen to speakers and gain insights into attendee-only papers. The grand finale is the third day, featuring an awards ceremony.
The highest achiever at VJAS earns a coveted invitation to AJAS. Still, every participant reaps numerous benefits, including the chance to secure the VDOE Science Diploma Seal, engage in state-level leadership experiences, have their work published in the Proceedings or VOICE, access scholarships, and collaborate with mentors.
VJAS isn't just an event; it's an immersive experience. Join us today as a member, entirely free of charge, at vjas.org, and embark on a journey of knowledge, growth, and opportunity.
