• Who Can Submit?  
  • Any student who resides in Virginia and is in grades 7-12 may participate in VJAS. Students who live outside of the state of Virginia may not participate in VJAS.

Important Benchmarks
Fall 2026

• Determine research question.
• Design experiment and collect data.
• Ask science teacher if the school participates in VJAS.

November 1, 2026

• Deadline to apply for Phil Robinson research funds.

November 2026 to January 2027

• Complete data collection.
• Write paper.

February 21, 2027

• Deadline to submit paper through Reviewr
• Deadline to  pay the $35 paper submission fee*
• Deadline to apply to be a student officer.
• Deadline to apply for scholarships and awards.

*check with your science teacher to see if your school is paying this fee.
March 3, 2027

• Deadline to edit research papers submitted for consideration.

Early April 2027

• Students notified if research paper was selected for presentation at the Symposium 

April to May 2027

• Prepare presentation 

Mid May 2027

• Check  VJAS website for Symposium schedule and Program
